Case Studies

Structured Cabling Systems are at the base of modern information network. Designed to accommodate quickly and cost effectively frequent moves adds and changes a structured cabling system can alleviate workflow disruptions and network downtime associated with enterprise restructuring.
According to International Engineering Consortium (www.iec.org) providing an internationally standardized structured cabling system and consolidating cable-delivery methods for all the systems can reduce initial construction costs for the cabling infrastructure of a modern intelligent building by up to 30 percent.
As Figure 1 indicates, typical costs for building operation and alterations over a 40-year life cycle far exceed the initial construction costs. Proper systems-integration planning to optimize the construction process can reduce these ongoing life cycle costs.

Building an IT infrastructure that is “future ready” is more important than ever. In today’s competitive business world enterprises must be able to respond fast to changes that occur in the market place. For some firms this means modernizing their data center to meet strict new regulatory requirements while for other enterprises, being future-ready is all about shortening the development and deployment cycle on new services that are essential to retaining existing customers and acquiring new ones.

Quest Networks’ Structured Cabling Solutions

A structured cabling system provides a platform upon which an overall information system strategy is built. With a flexible cabling infrastructure, a structured cabling system can support multiple voice, data, video and multimedia systems regardless of their manufacturer.

  • Copper Infrastructure Solutions. Independently verified screened and unscreened data-communication structured cabling solutions, providing ultimate performance and reliability for today's and tomorrows copper infrastructure requirements. Our Cat 5 (Cat 5e) or Cat 6 solutions will exceed TIA Cat 5e standards.

  • Fiber Optic Solutions  Conventional and blown fibre cabling solutions that compliment the deployment of optical solutions deeper into the network delivering a future-proof infrastructure.

  • Specialty Cabling Solutions Copper and fibre solutions for diverse and environmentally demanding applications such as Mass Transit, Marine, Automotive and Aerospace, that typically require adherence to strict performance criteria.

  • Low-voltage cabling Solutions that include music and paging systems, CCTV and security systems, fire alarms and access control systems.

Benefits of Structured Cabling

From an investment point of view structured cabling provides an exceptional ROI. A structured cabling system will outlive all other networking components and will require only minimal upgrades. According to International Engineering Consortium:

  • Construction costs for the cabling of the voice, data, and BMS can be reduced by up to 30 percent when integrating the cabling and delivery methods.
  • Moves, changes, rearrangements, and upgrades can be performed more cost-effectively, with a potential savings of 25 to 40 percent for material and labor when using an open-office cabling approach.

Additional advantages in using structured cabling:

  • Consistency – Same cables exist everywhere in the building

  • Support of multi-vendor equipment  - You can mix and match vendors

  • Simplifies moves adds and changes – As your company grows and/or moves locations with structured cabling your network resources are always ready to go.

  • Simplifies troubleshooting – With a wired structuring systems problems are easier to isolate and fix

  • Support of future applications – A Cat 5 or even Cat 6 compliant system will support future applications with little (if any) system upgrades.

Network Cabling Installation Services

As experts in network cabling installation Quest team has installed cable plant nationwide for almost any type of application. Voice, video, data, security, paging and wireless are among the applications we have enabled through our installations.

We provide a total solution for your premise cabling needs.
Among the services we provide are:

Initial needs assessment - With Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) capabilities on-staff, Quest can assist in assessing your complete needs. Our approach will look at not only your immediate applications but will also take into account future applications, future growth of your organization and possible technology changes which would impact your cabling needs. Considerations like type of equipment, load balancing and redundancy will be factored into our cost/benefit analysis. Our comprehensive design capabilities are recognized by many as among the best in the industry

Site Surveys - Quest technicians are available to conduct comprehensive site surveys to accurately assess the layout and conditions impacting the environment. Factors such as structural layout of the facility, building codes and safety and physical security issues are among the conditions that will be incorporated into the final design. Critical data gathered in the site survey will be incorporated into the final site management plan.
Complex Network / System Design - Your network will be designed by an RCDD with many years of complex design experience with various types of cable installations. Our designs include state of the art components integrated in conjunction with the latest design specifications and requirements. Our infrastructure design capabilities range across a broad spectrum of commercial applications including large data centers, multi-building campus environments, commercial airports as well as any traditional office environments.

Pre-job Construction - Our capabilities allow us to perform many construction activities which may be required before a job begins. This would include installing telecommunications closets, core drilling, installing cable support hardware, conduit trays, rack installation, mounting equipment, as well as other functions.

Cabling Installation - We can install a wide variety of transmission media including copper, fiber optic, twisted pair, base band and broadband as well as associated components. We also install a variety of wireless applications including 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g cameras, wifi VoIP.

Testing - Quest tests and certifies all of our installations to meet or exceed industry standards, meet all of the manufacturer's specifications as well as meet all the warranty requirements.
Moves/Adds/Changes - Quest can support your cable plant for the entire life cycle of the installation. Our experience ranges from changing a single drop to rewiring an entire floor.
Cabling installations - Complete installation of structured cabling "from the desktop to the DMARC". Our capabilities include the installation of any structured cabling needed to support our equipment installations.

Equipment installations of all types (PBX, POS devices, WiFi, PC's, printers, etc.) - Quest is able to install a wide variety of equipment including point of sale systems, voice / data systems, racks / cabinets, wireless devices, paging, and satellite systems. We are also able to perform installs of computers, printers and other peripherals.

Network upgrades and conversions - Quest is able to load any required software down the user level. We will preconfigured equipment at our staging facility prior to deployment and conduct complete testing before shipping in order to ensure that everything is working according to spec. This system of deployment helps save time and ensures a quality installation.

Moves / Adds / Changes - Over the course of an installations life cycle there will always be needs for changes, moves, or break/fix type of work. Quest provides a complete solution which is able to handle everything from your cable installation to equipment maintenance. Our service can range from taking care of a single location to handling thousands of locations nationally.
